Inspiring Independence and Confidence

Our History

Greater Waco Early Education Center (originally Bellmead Calvary Christian Childcare Center) was founded as a ministry of Greater Waco Baptist Church (then Bellmead Calvary Baptist Church) in August of 2008 under the leadership of Pastor Jimmy Adams. In the spring of 2010, Pastor Adams retired, and Dr. Gerald McKelroy was brought in as the new pastor. Under Dr. McKelroy’s leadership, the church and childcare changed their names to Greater Waco Baptist Church and Early Education Center. The center also came under new administrative leadership at this time and began to focus on providing a distinctly Christian environment for staff and students alike. One of the ways they provide this is by using the Abeka Book Curriculum, a Bible-based curriculum, for all ages starting at twelve months.

Greater Waco Early Education Center has had some wonderful directors over the years: Mrs. Avon Torberson (2010-2012), Mr. Nehemiah Torberson (2012-2014), and Dr. Amanda Newsom (2014-current). Since 2010, the center has worked diligently to maintain high quality staff  and effective parent communication. The center enjoys hosting special events for our students and families, and incorporating Bible stories and songs in all classrooms.

Our purpose is three-fold:

1)    To provide an excellent Christian childcare for parents seeking a godly environment for their children

2)    To provide an outreach to the community through the influence that the church staff has on our children and their families

3)    To provide an excellent place of employment for dedicated Christians who wish to serve God through this local church ministry.

With God’s help, we will continue to be a help to our community for many years to come!

“My daughter currently attends and she loves it, and her infant room teachers. We were appreciative of how personable the staff was during our tour, it made all the difference in making us feel comfortable and welcomed. The staff has maintained open and transparent communication, which my wife is very grateful for!”
